RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership and direction to the President/CEO and Board of Directors in the effective operation of all development activities required to fund Club operations and deliver programs within the community.

  • Serving as a member of the Leadership Team. Under the direction of the President/CEO the Leadership Team provides guidance and oversight to the programs and services of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Alabama.

  • In collaboration with the President/CEO and the Board of Directors, the Resource Development & Communications Director develops and implements an annual development strategy that includes but is not limited to:

  • Researching and analyzing agency, corporate, individual and foundation donors, and recommending solicitation strategies.

  • Preparing and presenting for approval proposals for corporate and foundation support of the Club, using current cultivation and solicitation materials.

  • Overseeing planning of logistics for special events, including obtaining sponsorships and solicitation of gifts and preparing related printed materials and publications.

  • Designing and implementing direct mail programs.

  • Providing support for various fund raising projects/initiatives assigned by the President & CEO, such as endowments, major gifts, and planned giving.

  • Monitoring and reporting on the progress of the Club’s programs to ensure grant compliance and identifying opportunities to improve results.

  • Assisting in the identification, recruitment, and training of board members to participate in fundraising and other activities.

  • Supporting the Resource Development Committee of the Board in planning and implementing fundraising activities.

  • Participating in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Club’s annual budget, controlling expenditures within budget and maintaining donor and financial records in accordance with standards.

  • Developing and managing strategic alliances with community leaders and local officials and collaborative partnerships with other youth serving organizations, members, parents, families, funders and community organizations.

  • Designing a communications strategy and the tools necessary to implement the communications strategy.

  • Managing the design and development of public relations documents for use in the promotion of fund raising and educating the community about our programs, including press releases, and managing the distribution of these marketing materials.
     

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in non-profit agency operations, specifically in the fundraising field, sales/marketing or equivalent experience.

  • Considerable knowledge of fundraising techniques, and sources of funding for non-profit agencies and organizations.

  • Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures, and of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations, and preferably among youth development and social services.

  • Ability to organize and coordinate fundraising operations.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.

  • Knowledge of accessing and managing donor database. Donor Perfect preferred.

  • Ability to design and implement virtual fundraising events. Swell preferred.

 21st CCLC Family Engagement Coordinator - 3rd STREET

Decatur, AL

Family Engagement Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the school administrators, faculty, staff, students’ parents and 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) initiative. This key position will improve communication between the school and the students’ families; promote parent engagement in their children’s education; and to encourage greater community involvement in the school. This is a part-time position requiring a flexible schedule. Responsibilities will include coordinating family events/workshops during the evenings or weekends and participating in the schools PTO, School Improvement Team, School Committee meetings, and other appropriate committees. Provide enrichment programming for the afterschool program to better form relationships with the children as an entry to meeting their parents. Our ultimate goal is to assist parents in becoming more involved with their children’s education and to promote a sense of community. Responsibilities will also include assisting the Site Coordinator with the 21st CCLC after school initiatives at the schools.

Responsibilities:

  1. Candidate must be bilingual in Spanish.

  2. Work closely with the schools and the community to ensure strong communication and partnership between schools/community and 21st CCLC initiative.

  3. Plan, execute, and reflect on family/community events and workshops/trainings based on family/community needs for the elementary school.

  4. Coordinate incentives such as field trips, childcare, awards, games, and other fun family engagement activities to encourage family participation in school related events. Conduct outreach to parents to encourage their participation in school life-PTO, School Improvement Team, volunteerism, Parent/Teacher conferences, school events, their children’s attendance in the after school program, etc.

  5. Plan & teach enrichment or educational programs in the after school program.

  6. Work collaboratively with the Site Coordinator from the school, to promote program/event participation, community involvement and other shared responsibilities. Disseminate and collect appropriate evaluation data (attendance, surveys, etc.) necessary for evaluation activities.

  7. Review and monitor tracking tool and utilize data to manage student attendance and family participation/volunteerism and retention.

  8. Demonstrate knowledge in community-based programs with a clear understanding of urban issues and communities.

  • Participate as an active positive team member with supervisor, staff, volunteers, and members.

  • Actively engaged with students in core area programs.

  • Effectively plan and implement and administer programs, services and activities for drop-in members and visitors.

  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the club at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports.

  • Prevention – Smart Moves, Passport to Manhood, and Smart Girls.

  • Physical Education – Triple Play, Healthy Habits, and two health classes per week.

  • Arts – drama, music, and fine arts.

  • Education – STRIDE, STEM, Intervention, and Career Development.

  • Social Rec. – Character Education & Development, Games, Sportsmanship, Fair Play, Honesty.

  • Write/ Implement weekly lesson plans
